Jimmy Dore is the host of The Jimmy Dore Show, which originates from KPFK Los Angeles and is broadcast nationwide on Pacifica Radio Network, as well as online through The Young Turks Network. He has starred in several Comedy Central specials, including the award-winning One Hour, Citizen Jimmy, which was chosen “Best of The Year” by iTunes and named one of the Top Five Comedy DVDs of the Year by Punchline magazine. For more than a decade, Jimmy Dore, has been observing America’s political scene through the lens of the media. With an eye for the cracks in our national discourse and a sharp sense of bipartisan satire, he’s collected abundant fragments of failed deception, outrageous absurdity, and truth. Weaving these fragments together, Dore now proudly presents a glaring mosaic of what’s wrong in America wrapped up in a hilarious book, “Your Country Is Just Not That Into You.”
With his signature incisive humor, Jimmy Dore writes what countless intelligent, hardworking Americans really think about the crap spewing from the mouths of elected officials, captains of industry, and revered members of the media, and others in positions of power.
I got a chance to speak with Jimmy about his book and why he feels that America is just not that into you!

Spencer Garrett Talks About His Role On USA’s New Show “Satisfaction”
Spencer Garrett has been a constant favorite among those in the entertainment industry. From the small to the big screen he has been very busy. This crazy schedule continues with this current recurring role on USA’s newest drama series, “Satisfaction,” where he co-stars opposite Matt Passmore and Stephanie Szostak.
Garrett is will also be on big screen in January 2015 with the scheduled release of Michael Mann’s feature for Warner Bros. “Blackhat” where he will star opposite Viola Davis and Chris Hemsworth. To follow, Garrett will appear in John Erick Dowdle’s newest thriller, “The Coup” which is expected to open March 6, 2015.
Most recently, Garrett has landed guest starring roles on the hugest and most critically acclaimed shows such as the Netflix hit series “House of Cards,” as well as “Mad Men,” and “Major Crimes” to name a few.
This third-generation actor was born to actress Kathleen Nolan and Richard Heckenkamp, former head of Film Artists Associates. Raised as a bicoastal resident of both New York and Los Angeles, Garrett grew up in an artist’s environment opportune for cultivating his passion for acting. Armed with a degree in Theatrical Studies from both Duke and Fordham, along with his lifelong admiration of arts and entertainment, Garrett immerged as an urbane-artist on the Hollywood scene.
Garrett first made his name as a guest star in such television classics as “Dallas” “Star Trek,” “X-Files,” and then on shows like “The West Wing.”
I spoke with Spencer about his new show “Satisfaction”, the passing of Hollywood legends like Robin Williams and Philip Seymour Hoffman, and much more. I really appreciated the way Spencer opened up to me about how landing a role on the film “Public Enemies” made him a better actor.
We got to talk about him playing roles in “Iron Man 3” and “Captain America” which helped him learn about the comic book world and its outstanding fan base. For anyone looking to become an actor this is a great interview to listen to as Spencer speaks from the heart. I really enjoyed chatting with Spencer and I hope he continues to land more and more roles for TV and film.

Can You See The Parallels In Sports & Dance?
Noted dancer, actor and choreographer Harry Shum, Jr. (Glee, Step Up 2) has always had a vision to explore the similarities in dance and sport, ever since he saw a TV special that aired in 1958 called “Gene Kelly: Dancing – A Man’s Game.” Gene Kelly created this Christmas special where he interpreted the moves of some of the top athletes of his time – including baseball star Mickey Mantle and boxer Sugar Ray Robinson – to choreograph dance routines, while also teaching the athletes to dance as well.
To continue this ongoing conversation in a visual format and update it for audiences today, Harry Shum, Jr. teamed up with long time collaborator and filmmaker Cole Walliser to work with leading contemporary dancers and premier Red Bull athletes in a new video series entitled “Parallels.” The series of videos draws parallels between disparate dance forms and extreme/action sports, utilizing slow motion to accurately pinpoint the striking similarities between both genres, both in movement and approach.
In one video, ballerina Kylie Lewellan’s measured leaps and jetes are juxtaposed with freestyle motocross biker Alexey Kolesnikov as he meticulously executes cliffhanger and Superman moves in mid-air. In a second video, tricker Remi Bakkar’s acrobatic dance moves and BMX bikers Andrea Lacondeguy, Syzmon Godziek and Thomas Genon’s aerial tricks are analyzed in the context of their constant battle with the force of gravity to execute their precise maneuvers. In the third video, the themes of rhythm and balance are explored through the similar kinds of moves that B-Boy Kid David and skateboarder Johnny Johannes can execute. “Parallels” ultimately identifies and expounds upon the various themes of control, rhythm, grace, timing, strength and balance that are omnipresent in movement whether one is a dancer or an athlete, creating undeniable parallels between both of those worlds.
“I think all movement is interconnected and the only thing that separates it is the intention behind it,” said Harry Shum, Jr. “The goal for a dancer or an athlete is to reach the highest level of athleticism that their bodies are capable of in their respective disciplines. Ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov proved to be one of the greats where no one can deny his incredible athletic abilities, and the artistry behind athletes like Michael Jordan can be clearly seen when you take the ball out of the equation. I hope this sparks a conversation to explore the question, ‘Is dance a sport and is sport an art form?’”

Actor David Ury Tells MANjr. That “Everybody Dies”
David Ury is a great character actor and comedian with over ten years of experience and known for his roles in shows such as “Heroes” and “Breaking Bad,” among others and all of his roles have incorporated dying. He has utilized his work and expertise in “dying” to publish a new book, entitled “Everybody Dies: A Children’s Book for Grown Ups.”
A children’s book for adults, “Everybody Dies” is Internet sensation from Ken Tanaka and David Ury’s grimly hilarious attempt to explain death. Using heavily saturated pictures and frank speech, Tanaka showcases the various ways in which people can meet their fate—including a surfing tragedy, being devoured by wild animals, war, and death by convenience machine.
Through 48 full-color pages of dark fun, Tanaka and Ury unveils the truth about living and dying, and softens the blow with cute drawings and little games to familiarize yourself with the death around you. By the book’s end, death may not be any less petrifying, but the inescapability is made clear. You can purchase the book here!
Even as in high school David’s roles would meet his maker in some of his plays. David recalls, “I remember the first time I died. I was a sophomore in high school and I’d been talked into doing the school play. It was “Riders to the Sea” and I was to play Bartley, a young fisherman who meets a watery end. I had a few lines at the top, but spent most of the play lying dead on stage. The actress playing my mother stood over my corpse and cried and cried. In the audience, my real mother cried and cried. At the moment, I knew this was my calling.”
I had the great chance to chat with David about his book, “Breaking Bad,” acting and more! To listen to my interview click here.
Here is the trailer Ury made with some of his “Breaking Bad” alums!
