The Air Jordan IX “Spirit” Comes Out This Weekend
When Michael Jordan first retired in 1993 the Chicago Bulls wanted to honor MJ. To do that they had sculpters Omri Amrany and Julie Rotblatt-Amrany created a 12-foot sculpture that was dubbed “The Spirit.” The placed the statue right in front of the United Center in Chicago. The statue has MJ in his icon Jumpman pose. On the statue Jordan is wearing the Air Jordan 9 shoe. The Air Jordan IX was a shoe that he never wore in an NBA game.
So to give a shout out to the statue Jordan Brand is releasing “The Spirit” Air Jordan IX Retro sneaker. The shoe features similar accent colors as the statue and reads November 1, 1994 on the backside of the tongue to mark the date it was unveiled. The retro will release next Saturday, Aug. 22 for $190 at select retail stores.

Honeyvine Wine Lightens Up Any Summer Day
There are days where you are looking for a different adult beverage. In the summer you are looking for a cool and refreshing drink. Have you ever tried a glass of wine on those certain occasions? There is a new wine on the market called Honeyvine.
This wine is light and crisp. Honeyvine white wine is a modern twist on the ancient honey drink, called mead, which dates back to early civilizations. Honeyvine is a proprietary blend of premium white wine, natural honey and honey essence for a crisp, more refreshing-tasting take on honey wine.
The natural flavors of honey and wine offer intrigue because both are influenced by their place of origin. The same grape variety grown in different soils, site exposure, climate and vintage yield wines of different flavor profiles, just as flavor of the honey depends on the source of flower pollen that the bees bring back to the hive.
The wine gives off scents of honey and orange blossom. The taste has honey that complements apple and pear, rounding out the taste profile and providing just a hint of sweetness with a juicy and lingering finish.
This new twist on mead is not as sweet as a dessert wine and makes a refreshing aperitif or complement to lighter entrees. Winemaker Reggie Hammond added natural honey and orange blossom honey essence to enhance the flavors of wine, rather than the ancient practice of fermenting the honey. He selected premium California vineyards, pressed the grapes and cool-fermented their juice in stainless steel tanks, resulting in a dry, white wine similar to an unoaked Chardonnay. This wine, with its fresh varietal flavors and crisp acidity, acts as a backdrop for the natural honey and orange blossom honey essence. The honey rounds and balances the wine, giving it a light sweetness and a lingering honey finish.

Football Season Is Almost Here. Is Your Ride Tailgating Worthy?
Football is less than a month away. From the NFL to college football we as fans can’t hardly wait. One question does remain. Is your car tailgating worthy? If you are not sure there is a list of the top 10 vehicle features for tailgating that Cars.com has recently put together. So check out the top 10 vehicle features for tailgating to keep your pre-, during- and post-game party on track
Locking RamBox
How do built-in bins with enough space for more than 200 cans sound? Tasty, I know. RamBox, available on Ram light- and heavy-duty pickup trucks, saddles two massive bins on each side of the truck bed with up to 8.6 cubic feet of cargo space in the larger, 6-foot-4-inch bed, and 7.3 cubic feet of beverage space with the 5-foot-7-inch bed. The RamBox is lockable with the remote key fob to keep poachers from stealing your goods while you watch the main event.
Household Power Outlet
Two or three-pronged household outlets are fairly easy to find in SUVs, trucks and minivans, especially those with rear-entertainment systems. Be sure to check the power ratings of the outlet as some don’t have enough juice to power a larger TV. In that case, pick a truck like the Toyota Tacoma with optional 115-volt, 400-watt outlet to handle an assortment of powerful tailgating electrical devices.
Rear Entertainment System
Plug your PlayStation/Xbox into the rear entertainment system for some pre-game pump up on “Madden 16″ or on a classic game such as “ESPN NFL 2K5.”
Rear-Facing Tailgate Seat
With the party happening at the rear of the vehicle, rear-facing tailgate seats like in the Dodge Grand Caravan, Chrysler Town & Country and Ford Flex provide a great view of the action off the field. These third rows pivot backward and are prime real estate.
In-Car Wireless Internet
Though earlier systems proved weak and more of a gimmick, in-car wireless systems are heading in the right direction with 4G LTE speeds being tapped and transmitted into in-car hot spots. Audi and GM offer the feature across all varieties of their cars, trucks and SUVs.
Multiple USB Ports
Tailgating often means a long day of constant battery drain while researching lineup changes, injuries and green flag start times. Thankfully, you and all of your friends can mooch off up to five USB inputs for charging devices in a truck like the Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra. Want to get creative? Look into a USB-powered mug warmer for those frigid, late-season football games.
Satellite Radio
Stuck tailgating at a football game while NASCAR continues on or vice versa? Tune into the broadcast on satellite radio and pipe the race or game through the car’s stereo or a mobile device via the SiriusXM mobile app.
Honda Odyssey In-Car Vacuum
Driving to the football field can be like piloting a rolling kitchen pantry. The chances of spilling a 32-ounce giant plastic bin of cheese balls are high, plus many racetracks’ parking lots are in grass- or mud-covered fields, so something like the Honda Odyssey’s built-in vacuum becomes an easy win for cleaning up after the last embers go out in the grill.
YES Essentials Upholstery
Spills are unavoidable, and the spill risk increases with the amount of “refreshments” brought to the tailgate. No one wants to go there, but designated drivers with YES Essentials fabric in certain Kia, Hyundai and Fiat Chrysler Automobile vehicles won’t have to worry as much about the unspeakable since the cloth upholstery is stain and — this is key — odor resistant.
Anything With a Liftgate
This seems like a no-brainer but it’s worth a mention. Sure, tailgating refers to gathering around the fold-down tailgate of a truck or SUV, but anything with a liftgate might be the way to go as the liftgate rises above the rear of the vehicle to shade tailgaters – liftgaters? — From sun and foul weather.

Pass On The Awareness
Guys, we seem to not want to go to the doctor. We fear sitting in that room waiting for a checkup. Yet it is better to be in the know. When was the last time you went for a physical? If it has been way too long for you to remember, maybe you should make an appointment sooner rather than later.
To help push you into the doctor’s office the USA Rugby, the Australian Rugby Union and Astellas Pharma have partnered to launch the #pass4prostate challenge. This is a social media campaign designed to generate awareness of prostate cancer and support a donation of up to $125,000 from Astellas to four research and advocacy organizations.
From now until the end of September in support of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, you can record a video of you catching an inanimate object, mentioning why prostate cancer awareness is important to you and then passing that object, rugby-style, symbolically to a friend or family member. Astellas will donate $5 to prostate cancer advocacy organizations for every qualifying submission with the #pass4prostate hashtag posted to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, up to a maximum contribution of $125,000. Example videos from top professional rugby players, information on how to register to win rugby-themed prizes and further details can be found at www.pass4prostate.org.

The 2015 incarnation features Intelligentsia Los Delirios coffee from Nicaragua. Available nationwide in limited quantities.
Bourbon County Brand Barleywine: Aged in the third-use barrels that were once home to Kentucky bourbon and then the renowned Bourbon County Stout, this traditional English-style barleywine possess the subtlety of flavor that only comes from a barrel that’s gone through many seasons of ritual care. The intricacies of the previous barrel denizens – oak, charcoal, hints of tobacco and vanilla, and that signature bourbon heat – are all present in this beer. Hearty and complex, Bourbon County Brand Barleywine is a titan and a timeline; a bold, flavorful journey through the craft of barrel aging. Available nationwide in limited quantities.
Bourbon County Brand Regal Rye Stout: Stout aged in rye whiskey barrels with blackberries, Luxardo candied cherries, fresh sour cherries and sea salt. Developed by the team of Goose Island brewers, this year’s recipe was especially collaborative. The brewers submitted recipes, held a roundtable discussion dissecting each and in the end landed on Bourbon County Brand Regal Rye Stout. Available nationwide in limited quantities.
Proprietor’s Bourbon County Brand Stout: The third annual release of Proprietor’s is aged in bourbon barrels and features maple, toasted pecans and guajillo peppers and is the brain child of female brewery, Di Rodriguez. This variant is meant to show Goose Island’s immense gratitude to their neighbors in Chicago – the loyal and adventurous fans whose support helped bring Bourbon County Brand Stout to towering new heights. Each year this release will differ from the previous year; a special variant created for Chicago and unique to the year it was released. Available only in Chicago.
Goose Island Rare Bourbon County Brand Stout: Back in 1979 the folks at Heaven Hill Distilleries filled a handful of new freshly charred American white oak barrels with some of their finest whiskey. It is rare for Bourbon to age in barrels for more than twenty-three years. But these barrels patiently sat for over thirty years. The extra years developed a distinct and complex character that makes them truly one-of-a kind. We filled those barrels with Bourbon County Brand Stout, and then stored them away in our Chicago Barrel House to age for two more years. With these rare barrels from our friends at Heaven Hill we believe this is one of the finest beers we have ever produced. This is Goose Island Rare Bourbon County Brand Stout for 2015.
In 1992, Goose Island pioneered bourbon barrel aged beer, paving the way for an entirely new category in the beer industry. This year, in addition to debuting six variants, including Rare, Goose Island’s in-house production team will release a short video series on the iconic beer brand called ‘Grit & Grain’.
The nine part Grit & Grain video series follows the full story of our iconic and highly coveted Bourbon County Brand Stout. From the loggers that down the trees used to make bourbon barrel staves, to the distillers themselves, the series will reveal a unique cast of characters and locations while informing viewers on what it really takes to make Bourbon County Brand Stout ready by Black Friday.
