Paul McCartney Rocks Hollywood Blvd
Jimmy Kimmel hosted Sir Paul McCartney this past Monday and our friends at Guinness made sure we were on hand to witness it. Guinness sponsors the green room at Jimmy Kimmel Live and they also sponsored the show that Sir Paul put on. It was a pretty legit show, too.
Kimmel shut down Hollywood Blvd right in front of his studio and the El Capitan. People were lining up all day to get a chance to see McCartney’s set. Although only a handful of songs made the show, the dude actually played for quite a bit.
McCartney was promoting his new album, aptly titled NEW. He played some of that new material, sure, but the guy knew what would get the crowd going. He mixed in some old Beatles tunes, “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da” and “Back in the U.S.S.R.” He also covered some Wings-era material like ”Band on the Run.”
There were two different pianos on stage, so you knew there had to be some “Let It Be” action. The big finish was saved for “Hey Jude,” a song that generated plenty of audience participation. Joining the huge crowd for some quality “na na na na-na-na-na” time was really pretty sweet. Check out the video:
The performance was sponsored by Guinness and included elements of their #MadeOfMore campaign. The campaign highlights that little bit extra that makes things distinguished and good, like this new basketball spot that they’re running:

Guinness Is Giving Back This Holiday Season
Guinness is a great holiday beer. There’s just something about a frothy stout pint that fits well with the colder months. I’m a bit partial to Guinness Black Lager myself, but this holiday season, you have options. You can keep it simple with a traditional Draught, get in on some extra stout action, enjoy the light-flavored-darkness of the Black Lager or reach for the new holiday brew, Guinness Generous Ale.
Guinness Generous Ale is the first winter-themed beer from the Irish brewery that’s been putting out great beers since 1759. The new Ale is brewed as a traditional winter ale and features a more medium brown color and a distinct roasty flavor, almost like a nutty coffee with caramel undertones. The hops flavor shines through, and the resulting bitterness isn’t too invasive. It’s good, folks.
In addition to rolling out the Generous Ale, Guinness is also launching a campaign designed to get people to give back this holiday season. The program is called Generous Hour. Basically, Guinness enthusiasts are being encouraged to do something generous with their time during the holidays. To participate, visit GuinnessGivesBack.com and make your pledge known. Here’s mine:
So you see, you don’t have to go out and try and save the world. Just think about being generous in your own way. Go take the pledge and spread the generous cheer this holiday season!

Guinness St. Patrick’s Day Pledge!
It’s never too early to start thinking about your St. Patty’s Day plans. Those four leaf clovers, green outfits, parades, pints and pubs aren’t going to enjoy themselves. You need to start mapping out what your March 17 festivities are going to look like now.
This year, instead of sipping on some god-awful American light beer loaded with green food coloring, why not take part in a time-honored St. Patrick’s Day tradition and responsibly celebrate with some tasty Guinness?
According to National Geographic, Guinness sales go through the roof on March 17:
On any given day 5.5 million pints of Guinness, the famous Irish stout brand, are consumed around the world. But on St. Patrick’s Day, that number more than doubles to 13 million pints, said Beth Davies Ryan, global corporate-relations director of Guinness.
The folks at Guinness are well aware that St. Patty’s Day and Guinness are the perfect party combination. That’s why this year Guinness is recruiting people from all over the world to sign a pledge to responsibly enjoy their tasty brew on March 17. Their goal is to set a Guinness World Records title for “The Largest St. Patrick’s Day Celebration” ever.
MANjr is partnering up with Guinness to get the word out on this pledge. Our blog is the representative for the state of California, so we’re asking you, dear reader, to help support the cause and sign the pledge for on Guinness.com.
When you visit the site, click “Join the Party” and you’ll be directed to a form that asks for your first name, country, zip code and an optional code. Just fill out the form and enter “MANJ” into the optional code field so they can track all the MANjr pledges that come in. You don’t have to be form California to sign the pledge, but help us represent our fine state in this noble cause! You could also win a trip to Dublin!
We get $1 for every pledge we bring in (up to $1,000), and if we dominate this pledge stuff, we can earn a trip to Dublin to attend a party at St. James Gate in September.
So help us out people! The competition is fierce, the cause is just and we need your support. Don’t forget to include “MANJ” in the optional code.
Thanks for your support and have a safe and happy St. Patrick’s Day!
