Enjoy A Summer Sunset Cocktail With Tanqueray
I know that many people, myself included, enjoy when the fall comes around. Yet deep down you have to admit it is hard to say good-bye to the summer. Yes, football is back and there is pumpkin scented everything, but some of the summer activities will surely be missed.
Labor Day is considered as the unofficial end of summer, but that is not cool. There are still plenty of days of the summer to enjoy. So don’t pack up the grill just yet. Before all the leaves fall off the trees there is still time to enjoy the summer.
Thankfully the good folks at Tanqueray challenged me to make a summer cocktail to celebrate the end of summer. I came up with the Summer Sunset using Tanqueray No. Ten Gin. I wanted to use some yellow and orange colors in the drink to showcase the colors of the sun and summer. So heat up the grill and cook some burgers while you are watching the games on TV with friends. Pass around the Summer Sunset to your friends so you all can say good-bye to summer in a proper way.

Enjoy A Wicked Fruit Punch
The good folks as PIEHOLE Whiskey challenged me to make up a new cocktail. I would have to use one of their three flavored whiskeys and two of the following ingredients, cranberry sauce, cream cheese, marshmallows, pumpkin, whipped cream, walnuts, raisins, and apple cider. This was my first time getting to taste these whiskeys and they were all fantastic.
For those who don’t know the PIEHOLE’s three varieties of whiskey are cherry pie, apple pie, and pecan pie. For the challenge I went with the cherry pie flavor whiskey. When I looked over the list of the different ingredients I immediately knew that I was going to go for a fruity concoction. So with that in mind I was looking to use cranberry sauce and apple cider.
Along with the cherry pie whiskey, cranberry sauce, and apple cider I also used ginger ale, cranberry juice, and a lime. I call this drink “Wicked Fruit Punch.” Below is the ingredient list as well as the directions you can follow to my cocktail. Plus I added some other recipes that you should try as well. Just make sure you try mine first!
Cheers and enjoy responsibly.
Ingredients:
1.5 oz. of PIEHOLE Cherry Whiskey
1.0 oz. of cranberry juice
1.0 oz. of apple cider
1.0 oz. of ginger ale
¼ cup of cranberry sauce
1 lime wedge
Directions:
Take the ¼ cup of cranberry sauce and blend it really well. Once it is near liquid form place the sauce in the bottom of an old-fashioned glass. Next pour the PIEHOLE Cherry Whiskey, ginger ale, apple cider, and cranberry juice in another cup. Add some ice and shake up those ingredients. Pour that mixture into the old-fashioned glass with the cranberry sauce on the bottom. Add a lime wedge on the lip of the glass and circle it around the entire glass. Enjoy!

George Dickel Whisky Introduces George Dickel No. 1
As we enter 2014 George Dickel Whisky introduces a new spirit to their great beverage line. It is called George Dickel No. 1. It uses their “Foundation Recipe” that has been a staple in some of their whiskies including No. 8, No. 12, and their Barrel Select. This unaged whisky is handcrafted from grains and water from the Cascade Spring. Then it goes through their signature Chill Charcoal Mellowing process that gives the whisky a soft, smooth finish. Some whisky fans think that using the Chill Charcoal Method in the mellowing process makes it perfect for the wintertime.
No. 1 is 91-proof, which is 45.5 % ABV and has a clear appearance. When I took a sniff I found that it had a soft smell and wasn’t overbearing. I also took in hints of raw grain. As for the taste, well it is very smooth with a sweet corn flavor.
Whether you like to enjoy your whisky neat, on the rocks, or mixed into a cocktail, the No.1 could become one of your all-time favorites. When I tried the No. 1 I was extremely pleased with the taste and finish. It just came out on the market and has a suggested retail price of $21.99 for a 750 ml bottle. Below I added some cocktail recipes that work really well with George Dickel No. 1.
