Bud Light Gives NBA Fans The Biggest Assist Ever
Bud Light is getting fans pumped up for the NBA playoffs with the same mentality by releasing the latest installment in the brand’s “Up For Whatever” video series, where they surprised two fans with the ultimate NBA weekend. They played video games against Alonzo Mourning, received a special delivery from “The Mailman,” played a predictably brief game of H.O.R.S.E. against Clyde Drexler and went suit shopping with Darryl Dawkins. And that’s only part of what happened.

H.O.R.S.E on a Horse
Following in the footsteps of its Super Bowl commercial with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bud Light recently asked people if they were “Up For Whatever.” Those who said yes ended up having some truly unusual experiences – including playing H.O.R.S.E against former college and pro basketball star Rick Fox while riding actual horses – and captured it all on video.
This latest installment in Bud Light’s “Up for Whatever” video series, shot in Dallas, is now online to get fans pumped up for this weekend’s games. If you want to see everything else that happened to Bud Light fans that day, check out the video below.

Exploring Bud Light’s NFL Fan Superstition Index
We’re at the midpoint of an exciting NFL season with tons of interesting storylines. Babyface meathead Richie Incognito has been dominating the NFL news cycle lately, but there are more important things to ponder, like why the hell the Steelers are 2-6.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have more championships than any other NFL team, but the 2013 season has been an absolute disaster. From the patchwork set of o-lineman that take each other out at the knees to the aging defense that allowed more points last week than any other game in Steelers’ history to the inability to convert and stop conversions on third down, it’s been a rough year. As a Steelers fan, I’m open to any and every bit of positive ju-ju that can help stop the bleeding.
So I took a look at the NFL Fan Superstition Index that Bud Light put together. The official beer of the NFL partnered with KRC Research and conducted more than 9,500 interviews among the 32 different NFL team fan bases. About 300 fans per team were asked more than 50 questions in an effort to calculate the superstition level of each NFL fan base.
Baltimore Ravens fans ranked as the most superstitious fans in the NFL. Coming off a Super Bowl victory, that’s totally understandable. Jets fans are most likely to try and curse or jinx an opposing team, which also makes sense seeing how miserable the average Jets fan’s life must be. Lions fans are most likely to engage in superstitious activities alone, likely so that no one will see them cry.
I thought this tidbit was interesting – Raiders supporters are the fans most likely to wear the same article of clothing (51%) or same hat or non-clothing accessory (38%) in order to help their team’s chances of winning. That makes sense when you think of the low football/life IQ of most Raiders fans, and the fact that they rarely wash themselves or their clothes.
Steelers fans rank fourth in the league when it comes to engaging in superstitious activities with their friends. Steelers fans rank seventh when it comes to setting out some type of team memorabilia to impact the outcome of a game. There’s a lot of terrible towels you see. And does it work? Well 36 percent of the Steelers fans surveyed believe that their superstitious practices actually influence the outcome of games. Maybe we all should try harder this year.
So there you have it. If you want to learn more about your team’s fan base tries to influence games with supernatural tactics, check out the full NFL Fan Superstition Index by Bud Light. Here are some more highlights from the survey:

Bud Light Lime-a-Rita Cinco De Mayo Launch Party in Vegas
It was a fun weekend in Vegas. The weather was great, it was Cinco de Mayo and you had quality sports on at all times (Mayweather-Cotto, the Kentucky Derby, playoff basketball and hockey games, the English F.A. Cup, baseball, etc.). It was a good time to schedule a Vegas trip.
I was in town for a bachelor party, and we all spent the day on Saturday soaking up some sun poolside at the Mandalay Bay. The whole crew went to the Bud Light Lime-a-Rita Cinco de Mayo launch party and we all had a blast.
The launch party wasn’t overly packed, which was a good thing. Maria Menounos hosted the event in a green bikini and she got some pool time in with the rest of the crowd. There was good music, cool people, tasty pretzels and all the Bud Light, Bud Light Lime and Bud Light Lime-a-Rita you could drink.
The Bud Light Lime-a-Rita is more marg than brew. It’s a malt beverage that’s pretty refreshing on a hot day, but it’s just way better when served cold, ideally over ice. The taste is a bit acidic, but if you enjoy margaritas, this sensation will be nothing new to you. This isn’t the kind of beverage that you want to slam back to back to back to back. It’s more of a nice sipping compliment to a warm day of beer drinking.
But back to the party. The music was solid throughout and Jermaine Dupree took over DJ duties for bit and really got the crowd going. Nelly was there having fun on the stage by the pool. I saw this guy trying to pull off the Will.i.am look and I thought to myself, whoa guy, that’s a strong look to try to pull off. But he was real convincing about it, and I’m like 95 percent sure that it wasn’t an imitation. Will he was indeed.
So with the summer season right around the corner, this Bud Light Lime-a-Rita stuff is worth checking out. It’s a mellow malt beverage that provides some chill, revitalizing refreshment and serves as a great compliment to pool party beer drinking.

Maria Menounos Interview
It’s a Cinco de Mayo weekend, people! And if you’re having a hard time deciding what to drink – beers or margaritas – Bud Light has a solution for you. The Bud Light Lime-a-Rita is an 8oz can of 8% alcohol that’s a combination of weekend-ready margarita and a splash of Bud Light Lime. Best served over ice, this malt beverage will take the guesswork out of your weekend drinking plans. It’s an all-in-one, all-inclusive answer to your Cinco de Mayo party needs.
To celebrate the launch of Bud Light Lime-a-Rita, we spent a few minutes chatting with the beverage’s lovely spokeswoman, Maria Menounos. Menounos was born in Massachusetts. Her parents are Greek immigrants and she can speak fluent Greek and Spanish. In addition to being an absolute stone-cold fox, Maria balances a sporty/beauty pageant/journalism background with acting, TV hosting, celebrity dancing and even professional wrestling duties. Basically she does it all.
And when she’s not putting up perfect scores on Dancing with the Stars, interviewing President Obama and the First Family, catching touchdowns from Joe Montana, winning tag team matches at Wrestlemania or losing Super Bowl bets that require her to sport a bikini in the middle of winter, Menounous still finds time to enjoy a beer or a marg or in this case, a beer-marg combo like the Lime-a-Rita.
We talked with Maria about the upcoming Bud Light Lime-a-Rita kickoff party this weekend at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, dominating dancing and wrestling, staying so damn fit, what her Greek parents think about her racy photo shoots and a whole lot more. Here’s the full interview:
We’re heading out to the kickoff party in Vegas this weekend. We’ll let you know how it goes! Have a safe and fun Cinco!
