Jordan Brand Unveils Pinnacle Performance Collection for All-Star Weekend
It took Michael Jordan 15 years, six championships and 14 All-Star appearances to establish himself as the greatest basketball player of all time. Today, the franchise that bears his name celebrates 30 years by reflecting on the legacy of the man and the shoes, while setting the stage for its next chapter.
As time has passed, Jordan’s game continues to shine brighter and his achievements become all the more remarkable. The mythical moments of Jordan’s career, the double-nickel in New York and the last shot, have set the standard by which all other players are judged.
While time can diminish memories and details eventually fade, epic moments are left to be passed generation to generation. Like a natural pearl, the beauty of achievement stands the test of time. The brand formed by these moments continues to evolve through innovation and style.
This year’s All-Star pinnacle performance collection, the Pearl Pack, draws inspiration from the pearl, in both color and design. For All-Star 2015, the pack features four premium performance shoes, the Jordan Super.Fly 3, Jordan Melo M11, Jordan CP3.VIII, and Air Jordan XX9.
Each shoe in the collection exemplifies elegance and sophistication, from intricate graphics to premium materials. A magnified pearl texture appears on each shoe’s upper, while white-based sheen and reflective threading bring the luminescence of the pearl to mind.
The preferred shoe by Jordan athlete Blake Griffin, the Jordan Super.Fly 3 features a fused upper design, providing lightweight strength and support. The shoe also includes FlightPlate technology, which harnesses the energy of every step for explosive lift-off.
The Jordan Melo M11 is Jordan Brand’s latest performance model, incorporating the brand’s pinnacle technology created for the basketball court: FlightPlate. On the shoe’s upper, a molded collar optimizes fit and enhances ankle support for Carmelo Anthony’s versatile game.
Inspired by the speed of flight, the Jordan CP3.VIII gives Chris Paul an on-court edge over opponents. The TPU chassis keep the foot contained for lateral support, while a lightweight no-sew upper provides breathability and durability.
The Air Jordan XX9, worn by high-flying Russell Westbrook, features a re-engineered FlightPlate technology that includes an additional tendril to improve heel-to-toe transitions. A performance woven upper is constructed to be incredibly light for superior flight.
The Jordan Pearl Pack will be available at select retail stores and Jordan.com on Feb. 7.

Jordan Brand Unveils Jordan Hangar
For the man who showed us that we can fly, (well maybe him and not us!) Michael Jordan finally gets his own hangar. The expansive Jordan Hangar is situated in an undisclosed nearly 80,000-square-foot plane hangar in west L.A., which was once owned by Howard Hughes and rumored to be where the Spruce Goose was built. Included in the Jordan Hangar are some incredible elements to help raise your game.
A full-size, regulation basketball court, with a stylized silver base and Jordan fractal pattern up and down the floorboards. The brand’s social/digital handle, @jumpman23, runs along the baseline, and CP and Blake’s logos are featured in the paint between the basket and free throw line. Sleek, light-colored, multi-tiered stands rise up beyond the far backboard; and, above the court – more than halfway to the 75-foot-high rafters – is a three-paneled jumbotron, with each panel measuring 100 square feet. Along with featuring games between local high schools, Jordan said the court will be used by Jordan Brand players for offseason training as well as possible future product testing.
Entering the Jordan Hangar, where the hashtag #takeflight in cement greets every high flier on the way in, guests walk down a mini Hollywood Blvd. Walk of Fame, with each Jordan Brand basketball athlete getting their own star. On the wall in front as you turn into the open space: a white wall with artistic carvings of MJ’s accomplishments.
Two performance measurement elements stand out in the hangar as you walk toward the court. The first is The Cube, a 10-foot high, four-sided box, with a video screen on each side. Players can grab a ball and test their skills while mimicking the timed, repetitive on-screen drills performed by the athlete on-screen, all moves Chris Paul himself uses in-game – including his famous jab step and the beginnings of his crossover. During the drill, a voice from the box counts down the time the player must continue that move, as well as hints on how to improve throughout. Moving from The Cube toward the court is a runway, launch and landing pad measuring a player’s jump, calculating the pounds of force generated on liftoff. Through sensors on the pad, the information comes up within seconds on the screen.
The Jordan Hangar also features two NBA-style locker rooms with a dozen lockers each: one locker room for CP, another for Blake. Each player has a dedicated locker, complete with golden nameplate, which are reserved solely for their use. The locker room has a lounge with leather chairs, couches and a 75-inch flat-screen TV, set up for NBA 2K matchups.
Plus here is a video that gives you even more access to the Jordan Hangar.

Jordan Brand Introduces The Jordan CP3.VIII
Chris Paul is incredibly involved in the design process of the shoe, and works closely with Jordan Brand designers to create a shoe that is made specifically for his game. Paul asks designers to incorporate elements that give him an edge over his opponents, similar to a superhero’s kit with concealed ecret weapons.
Beyond the shoe’s performance elements, the CP3 signature line has always featured personalized touches, helping distinguish Paul’s game-day footwear. The Jordan CP3.VIII continues that trend, with a family tree detailed on the inside of the tongue, complementing the traditional chevron design that pays tribute to the patriarchs of the Paul family.
Paul’s game is notoriously fast, and he requires a shoe he can trust when he’s making quick changes in direction, stopping in an instant or initiating a high-speed attack on the rim. The TPU chassis provides this type of supreme stability for the rapid directional moves that Paul is known for. A unique 5/8-height, coupled with an innersleeve, delivers a sock-like fit in a model that is made for players with an up-tempo game.
The textile upper provides lightweight support, while reaffirming durability through synthetic overlays on the heel and toe, as well as rubber pods strategically placed in high-contact areas. Nike Zoom units under the forefoot create responsive cushioning, and a herringbone pattern on the heel enhances the multi-directional traction that has become a staple in the CP3 line.
The Jordan CP3.VIII will launch in two colorways — black/infrared 23/white and cool grey/white/black — at global retailers and Jordan.com on Nov. 1, for a suggested retail price of $130.

Jordan Brand Releases The Future
Paying tribute to the symbiotic relationship between the court and the street, the Jordan Future blends one of the most iconic designs with a one-piece woven upper to create an entirely new look. The deconstructed upper forgoes a heel counter and toe enforcer for a futuristic, minimalist style.
The Future gets bright with a blast of Volt on the one-piece woven upper and full-length Air outsole. Stand out in the latest colorway of the Jordan Future. Available on Nike.com May 17.
The newest colorway in the Air Jordan Elements collection, the Air Jordan 5Lab3 combines the body of a classic Air Jordan 3 with the iconic reflective elements of the Air Jordan 5. This model’s all-black, smooth upper fully reflects light. Just like the Jordan Future the 5Lab3 will be available on Nike.com on May 17 at 8am EDT/5 am PDT.

Julius Randle and Jabari Parker Share MVP Honors at 2013 Jordan Brand Classic
Last night the Barclays Center showcased three games. The first game was the International Game that had the best and brightest from players all around the world compete. The second game was a Regional Game in which every player was from the New York area. In this game it had the best high school players from the city to go up against players from the New York suburbs.
The final game was the National Game which filled up the Barclays Center with fans to see the future stars of the NBA. This game displayed the talents of the top rated high school players from all over the country. The future of Kentucky basketball was well represented last night. There was a total of six players in the game. Three on Team East and three on Team West.
Julius Randle, who is one of the players that will be playing ball for Kentucky, shared in the MVP Honors. He had 19 points and seven rebounds. The other MVP was Jabari Parker, who will be playing for Duke next year. He scored 16 points and seven boards as he and the West Team beat the East 102-98.
Other Kentucky bound players put in work as well last night. James Young had 10 points. Dakari Johnson contributed with eight points. Brothers Andrew and Aaron Harrison chipped in each with six points.
Indiana University looks to have a promising future as both future Hoosiers Troy Williams and Noah Vonleh played well for the West.
Along with the game the Jordan Brand Classic had some notable people in the stands. Since the game has his namesake, Michael Jordan came to watch the game in a suite. He got an enormous round of applause when he was mentioned during the festivities.
Even though the Barclays Center is home to the Brooklyn Nets there were some New York Knicks in attendance. Amar’e Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith sat courtside. Spike Lee, Drake, who performed at the game was on hand. Plus CC Sabathia, Eric LeGrand, Fabolous, Chromeo, Andre Ward, Busta Rhymes and Michael K. Williams checked out the Jordan Brand Classic.
Carmelo even took the time to take a picture with Co-MVP’s Julius Randle and Jabari Parker. Earlier this past week I caught up with Randle during the East’s practice. I asked him about the game and if he was looking to build chemistry with his future Wildcats teammates. He said, “Oh yea definitely. Last week I played with Dekari Johnson and it was great. This week I am playing with the Harrison twins (Andrew and Aaron). It is crazy. I always used to play against them and now I am playing with them. It will be fun this weekend.”
I would say winning the MVP Award made the weekend even sweeter for him. Kentucky looks to have a bright future with Randle and the rest of the Kentucky bound players. I am guessing John Calipari, head coach for Kentucky, was watching the game last night with a big smile on his face.
